读后感的英文 第1篇

In this summer holidays, I read a book called < Great Expectations>, it was written by Charles Dickens, one of the most famous English writers. He wrote lots of wonderful novels. This book is one of his compositions.

People always like to compare with their friends. It is a big foible of all the people. If other people have a lot of money, we also want to be rich. If all the people around us are poor , we never mind that we are very poor, too. we will not ashamed because of our folly. This is a social problem.

If we never possess anything, we will not mind we lost some thing. Since we don"t want to be very rich ,we will not feel despond because poor.

The protagonist of this novel is Pip (Handel)。

His parents died when he was a baby. His sister had brought him up "by hand". His sister married to Joe Gargery, the village blacksmith. They didn"t have much money, and Pip never went to school to study. But he was often very happy .Because all of his friends are like him. It isn"t very unfortunate to them, this is their lives. But by a chance, Pip helped a convict; he gave much food to him. Then he met Miss Havisham, a very strange old woman and she was very rich.

Four years later, Miss Havisham wants Pip to be removed from his home and educated as a gentleman who expects inherit a fortune when he grow up.

After hearing that . Pip started to despise his poor friends. He even feel ashamed because he live with the poor man . Pip"s "great expectations" destroyed his life.

This novel told us that we cannot compare with others .Don"t feel envy at the others money. And if one day you be very rich , please don"t despise your poor friends.

This is a story about a special and unreserved woman who has been exposed to a hostile environment but continuously and fearlessly struggling for her ideal life. The story can be interpreted as a symbol of the independent spirit.

It seems to me that many readers’ English reading experience starts with Jane Eyer. I am of no exception. As we refer to the movie “Jane Eyer”, it is not surprising to find some differences because of its being filmized and retold in a new way, but the spirit of the novel remains----to be an independent person, both physically and mentally.

Jane Eyer was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag. Since Jane’s education in Lowwood Orphanage began, she didn’t get what she had been expecting——simply being regarded as a common person, just the same as any other girl around. The suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach Jane to be persevering and prize dignity over anything else.As a reward of revolting the ruthless oppression, Jane got a chance to be a tutor in Thornfield Garden. There she made the acquaintance of lovely Adele and that garden’s owner, Rochester, a man with warm heart despite a cold face outside.

Jane expected to change the life from then on, but fate had decided otherwise: After Jane and Rochester fell in love with each other and got down to get marry, she unfortunately came to know in fact Rochester had got a legal wife, who seemed to be the shadow following Rochester and led to his moodiness all the time ----Rochester was also a despairing person in need of salvation. Jane did want to give him a hand, however, she made up her mind to leave, because she didn’t want to betray her own principles, because she was Jane Eyer. The film has finally got a symbolist end: Jane inherited a large number of legacies and finally returned. After finding Rochester’s misfortune brought by his original mad wife, Jane chose to stay with him forever.

I don’t know what others feel, but frankly speaking, I would rather regard the section that Jane began her teaching job in Thornfield as the film’s end----especially when I heard Jane’s words “Never in my life have I been awaken so happily.” For one thing, this ideal and brand-new beginning of life was what Jane had been imagining for long as a suffering person; for another, this should be what the audiences with my views hoped her to get. But the professional judgment of producing films reminded me to wait for a totally different result: There must be something wrong coming with the excellence----perhaps not only should another section be added to enrich the story, but also we may see from the next transition of Jane’s life that “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you would get.”

What’s more, this film didn’t end when Jane left Thornfield. For Jane Eyer herself, there should always be somewhere to realize her great ideal of being independent considering her fortitude, but for Rochester, how he can get salvation? The film gives the answer tentatively: Jane eventually got back to Rochester. In fact, when Jane met Rochester for the first time, she scared his horse and made his heel strained, to a certain extent, which meant Rochester would get retrieval because of Jane. We can consider Rochester’s experiences as that of religion meaning. The fire by his frantic wife was the punishment for the cynicism early in his life. After it, Rochester got the mercy of the God and the love of the woman whom he loved. Here we can say: human nature and divinity get united perfectly in order to let such a story accord with the requirements of both two sides. The value of this film may be due to its efforts to explore a new way for the development of humanism under the faith of religion.

Life is ceaselessly changing, but our living principles remain. Firmly persisting for the rights of being independent gives us enough confidence and courage, which is like the beacon over the capriccioso sea of life. In the world of the film, we have found the stories of ourselves, which makes us so concerned about the fate of the dramatis personae.

In this era of rapid social and technological change leading to increasing life complexity and psychological displacement, both physical and mental effects on us call for a balance. We are likely to find ourselves bogged down in the Sargasso Sea of information overload and living unconsciousness. It’s our spirit that makes the life meaningful.

Heart is the engine of body, brain is the resource of thought, and great films are the mirrors of life. Indubitably, “Jane Eyer” is one of them.

“Animals deserve our kindness, sympathy and understanding,” that is what Anna Sewell-the author of Black Beauty-wanted to convince her readers. Thanks to Sewell, I now think about the animal-human relationship from both the human and the animal"s point of view.

The inspiration for Anna Sewell"s novel was drawn from her own relationship with horses. Anna Sewell was born on March 20th, 1820 in Norfolk, England and was crippled while still very young. Due to her disability, she relied on horse-drawn carriages and grew to love horses as a result. She also became appalled by the careless and cruel treatment horses often received from humans and determined to write a book.. In the second year of work on the book, she was told that she had only eighteen months to live, but she persevered in order “to induce kindness, sympathy and an understanding [of the ] treatment of horses.” Five years later, she was still working on Black Beauty, her only book. Unfortunately, Sewell died a few months after publication and never learned of the book"s huge success. Black Beauty formed an impassioned plea for animal rights at a time when such a notion had been dismissed as ridiculous.

The novel portrayed the real condition of working horses living in Britain during the Victorian Era. In that time period, the wealthy thought that their horses were treated well because they never stepped into the stable. In order to call people"s attention to horses" hard life, Sewell tells the story through the first-person narrative voice of a horse. This innovative personification of an animal made the book a real success. Readers heard the stories straight from the horse"s mouth, literally, as an animal spoke of extremes of joy and suffering. People were shocked by the truth exposed by the novel and changed their attitudes towards animals.

Sewell formed the novel with three kinds of characters: Black Beauty, Ginger and other farm animals. Through their different experiences, I saw similarly painful lives led by the animals. This method made the earnest appeal for animal rights become more and more persuasive.

As a domestic animal, Black Beauty was continuously sold from one family to another. Over the years Beauty enjoyed good masters but also endured mean ones. Sometimes, he was cared for and at other times tortured. In the end, everything turns out all right in a story that is so tender and yet meaningful. His story was so vivid that caught the readers" heart. The novel brought people laughter and tears and also enlightened them to understand animals at the same time.

Animals cannot speak so understanding is significant to them. Once, for example, Beauty was drawing the carriage to a wooden bridge. The bridge was flooded out in the river and John, the groom, was not aware that it was cracked. But the quickly realized that something was wrong because of Beauty"s abnormal behavior. Momentarily, a man shouted to them, “Stop! Stop!…The bridge is broken in the middle. If you come across, you"ll fall in the river!” Beauty had saved John. However, if John had not tried to understand what Beauty wanted to tell him, there would definitely have been an accident. I learnt from the story that understanding animals is not only essential to them but is also beneficial to us ourselves.

Thats how its been recently. Look at it. The whole person enters into its plot, a person originally can infinite bravery, in order to survive can seek, however fear in the heart.

It seems to me that some of the withdrawal is so...

When its time to call it, call it out. Dont hide it. A man is stuck to some rules and looks pretentious.

In the turbulent times, so strong and brave heart.

If you have had all the good things in the past, when everything is turned into one, accept the fact. A man comes and goes every day, day and night, listless and listless. Youre just going to keep throwing you away. In order to get the care of life, change the heart to change the environment, from now on to continue to be like the carefree life to go to fight, slowly close to happiness.

Dont be afraid to take care of your surroundings when you need to take care of them. Everyone needs you, maybe you dont know anything, but calm down. Only if you are brave and strong, can you feel dependent.

Clinging to barefoot in the clear waters of the lake, the fullness of attachment, the pride of being held... When everything becomes a luxury, take the initiative to take it, and everyone else is looking at you and hoping to take comfort from you.

Sometimes I want a strong shoulder to help, but sometimes I have to face it.

The monotony is one thing to go to fight, looking at the improving day by day, everything in front of it is not very dim. Theres another scene.

Closing the book, looking at the ceiling, silence: it seems to evoke something in the heart, something about weakness, dependence, suffering...

This is a fairytale whose distribution volume is only second to The Bible. It’s been translated to versions of many other languages. And I gather there must be something special, something really great about it. It’s this conviction that drove me to read it at the first beginning. Well, with due respect to the author, I failed to see how this fairytale be worthy of our attention, despite the fact that many readers claimed this book to be designed for adults.

Anyway, as a well-acknowledged book, it must possess unique feature to maintain it’s position. And it’s reputation and popularity will by no means be destroyed by what an unknown man says. I will talk about the main contents of the book, and the inspiration it renders as usual.

This book mainly tells us the experience of a princefroma tiny planet, who traveled to many other planets and finally came to the earth and met the pilot in a desert. The prince and the pilot became good friends, and the pilot gradually got to know the feeling and experience of his friend. Before he came to the earth, little prince had been to other 6 little planets where he made acquaintance with some strange people. The first man he met was a king on a little planet, yet he claimed to be the king of the space and ridiculously justified his unshakable governance over all. The second person was a man of vanity, who enjoyed compliments of any form without considering whether it’s sincere or not. The third person was an alcoholic who tried to forget the fact that he’s addicted to acohol by drinking like a fish. The fourth person was an abosolute money-oriented businessman, who cared nothing but his fortune. Next came the lamp-lighter who performed his duty blindly. The last one was a geographer who knew too much about geography to solve a real problem related to it. These six people each represented one kind of person like us. The author satirized people’s conceit, emptiness, fakeness, innocence and blindness through the tone of a child.

I see eye to eye with the author in that the cause of people’s loneliness can be concluded to the negligence of the bonds that connects them. People are supposed to care about each other, cherish what’s really important for them, and be grateful for the happiness that they’ve gained. We all believe knowledge and experience enable us to see clearly and make right judgements all the time. But we may sometimes lose the right to speak straighforwardly, think creatively or love courageously resultingfromwhat we’ve experienced. That why in our middle school textbooks, it’s the little kid that breaks the illusion of the emperor by saying ”but mum, he ain’t were anything”.

When I was a child, I was definitely a good boy who went home on time after school and did his homework and never tried anything without mom’s permission. And now I am a grown-up, and still I am a good man, at least, that’s what I heard. Sometimes when I was lonely and I began to think about my childhood, then all the happiness and care-free life came back to me as it were yesterday. Kids that once accompanied me during my childhood now become fathers and mothers of their kids and I myself am a child no more. Thinking about all these things have made me moody. There’re changes happening in our lives whether we are happy about it or not.

People told me life is a journey which will never stop once it’s started. What’s left behind are happiness and sorrow, pride and shame, success and regret. There’s good old time to reminisce and there’s sad hours that reminds us of the pain. Your feeling makes them real, and you know you lived.

I want to conclude by saying some positive words that each yestersday used to be today, and each today is the future of yesterday, so making the most of today is the best way to cherish your lives. Our mortal beings are doomed to die. It’s not sad, instead, death it’s just a process of our lives. After all, we’ve lived our lives and it’s what we do and how we think that determine who we are.

(when you look at the above passages, don’t regard it as a composition or an article, because if you do, you will be puzzled at the structure. It’s just a few words that come to my mind at the moment and I type them.)

Have a nice day!

reading after a science paper

These days , I am busy preparing my dissertation which is about web usage mining . I read some English papers and learnt much from them . And now , I want to say something about a paper titled “Web Usage Mining :Discovery and Applications of Usage Patterns from Web Data”.

This is the first English paper I read about dissertation and gave me great help .

This paper is a review about web usage mining. It introduced web usage mining in detail . Although it is a little old for it was published in 2000 , its contents are very useful today . It is organized according to the sequence of web usage mining and the six main parts are introduction which tells me what is web usage mining , the sources and abstraction of web data , the three steps of web usage mining , taxonomy and project survey , websift overview , privacy issues . The third and fourth parts are most important . It had a list of existing project about web usage mining which I saw many times in other papers , but this paper is the one creating this list . Besides , it has been referred for more then twenty times . As we all know that , the higher the referred number is , the more important the paper is , so I consider this paper to be an important and successful one in this region.

In my opinion , the success of this paper dues to three reasons . The first reason is the profound computer knowledge owned by the authors . Web usage mining relates to many subjects , such as artificial intelligence , ontology , semantic analysis , but the most basic knowledge is computer science . The four authors are all professors of department of computer science and engineering in university of Minnesota . For myself , I am not major in computer science and I am not very good at computers , so I feel a little difficult to understand technologies used in this region.

Second , they had read a large number of papers before they wrote this paper . There are fifty nine references listed after main contents . “Stand on the shoulders of giants” , this sentence tell us a truth : one can never successful all by oneself . And what’s more , learn from others can save a lot of time and energy , especially for us new learner . How to learn from others is a skill all of us should master , but learning doesn’t mean copy or plagiary . Other people’s knowledge and production is just our foundation , upon this foundation , we must have our own thoughts and creation. There are many remarks in this paper where referred other’s production.

Third , the authors had the experience of developing a web usage mining project . They don’t just engage in idle theorizing , so their comprehension on this issue is greatly profound. They know what we may meet in a real project development and they know how to resolve them . After reading this paper , I also read some other papers written in Chinese . Some of them are not based on real project and can not give useful resolution . Websift is the name of system they developed which can be used to data mining and analysis .

I wrote this article not only because it gave me much help in preparing my dissertation , but also because it tells me how to study and how to do research . Honesty and preciseness are two essential making a researcher must have . Hard-working is the necessary condition leading to success . This is just the beginning of my dissertation , I should learn from these four authors , both their knowledge and their attitude to study.

Book Report

The Little Prince which written by Antoine De Saint-Exupery tells a story including the little prince travels to several stars in universe. The author stressed main topic of book by the communications between the little prince and different grown-ups in different stars. In other words, the novel exposes some babd things for adult nature through the clear perception which only a little boy can have.

Now let me relate summaries of the plots to you.At first ,the little prince meets the narrator of the novel, apilot, and the little prince shares something about his star with the pilot. We can see that the little prince is very innocent and loves his rose who loves the little prince too. Then what we can know is that the little prince passes the king’s star, the conceited man’s star the tippler’s star, the businessman’s star, the geographer’s star, the lamplighter’s star successively.Eventually,he arrives at earth and makes friends with the snake and fox.The little prince makes a deep impression on the pilot so that the pilot still thinks of him frequently after his sudden disappearance. We all can realize that some adults are formalist, blind, conceited, utilitarian, false, selfish, numb and perplexed from the experiences of the littleprince. It seems that people stop the pursuit of truth, virtue and beauty but the little prince doesn’t stop it.

There is no doubt that the hero is the little prince. The little prince is an embodiment of true, virtue and beauty. He is an extremely positive role.He mentions his rose and his volcanoes a lot of times during his journey which is from B-612 to earth. That means his sincere affection for his rose and his longing for homeland.Meanwhile, the little prince shows his kindness as he gets along with the pilot, thesnake, the fox and different adults. The little prince gives his honest advice after he knows different people’s strange activities.Forexample, the little prince would like to help lamplighter to extricate him from a difficult position,so he talks to lamplighter“Your planet is so small that three strides will take you all the way around it.To be always in the sunshine, you need only walk along rather slowly. When you want to rest, you will walk and the day will last as long as you like.”Although the advice doesn’t do the lamplighter much good because what the lamplighter wants is to sleep. However, the sincerity and the concern the little prince has make people’s heart feel warm.In the meantime, the little prince unfold his deep love for nature through his idea.Forexample, the novel mentions that“what the little prince did not dare confess was that he was sorry most of all to leave this planet, because it was blest every day

with 1440 sunsets”Besides the little prince’s best friends cover plant and animal, likerose, fox, snake. In fact, many people say The Little Prince brighten the entire world.I think that the reason why it is a influential fairy tale is that the little prince who possesses sincere feeling, friendly attitude, innocence and kindness.

The whole novel reveal some bad characters of adult but it is a warm-toned novel. What’s more important, the plants and the animals are able to think and speak in the story,so the story is very vivid and colorful. This reason interests lots of readers to focus themselves attention on the story. When he narrates the story, the author rely on many roles’ words to inform a number of sense. For instance, the fox says“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret. It is only with the heart that one can see rightlywhat is essential is invisible to the eyes”,“But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world.”, the snake says“It is also lonely among men”and the little prince says“The house, the stars, the desert – what gives them their beauty is something that is invisible”Sometimes these words not only make me think deeply but also let me touch deeply. The Little Princedrives everyone to return childhood time and don’t grow up any more, but we all know it is impossible. What can we do is only to keep innocent, kind and clean heart as we grow up.
